San Pedro Sacatepequez -  Fun daily use two panel huipil. It has colorful brocade with three rows of animals (I think some kind of bird) and dark green cotton base material.  The neck and arms are finished with faded velvet trim.  Two panels have tight selvage ends and one is hemmed.  Other is fringed and about 2.5 inches shorter than other. A simple white cloth has been stitched in, so easier to tuck in skirt.  One options would be to hem other sides so similar length.  Sides are open so can be worn as a poncho or can easily be sewn closed. Bought in 2012, just added this year.

Condition: Generally good condition with some loose threads.  Major issues is uneven length of one panel.  Trim is somewhat fade. 1 inch neck slit is unfinished.

Women's Huipil
Width: 33"
Length: 21-26"
Neck : 5.5" width, 3" depth

1.5 lb.

Price: $75.00

San Pedro Sacatepequez -  Nice daily use two-panel hand-woven women's huipil with nice hand-embroidered randa between panels. Solid patterns of zigzags and  other colorful patterns with green base material.   Neck is finished with a flowered probably machine-embroidered appliqué. Panels have selvage ends with one panel noticeably longer than the others. It could be hemmed to even out the length.   Sides are open so can be worn as a poncho or can easily be sewn closed. Base thread is different than many San Pedro Sacatepequez huipils, lighter weight (but solid) and slightly different texture, a bit bumpy but soft (it confuses me).

Condition: Generally good used huipil with a few loose threads.   Pleats have been opened up and base material shows color differences due to sun fading.

San Pedro Sacatepequez -  Daily use two-panel hand-woven women's huipil.  Colorful brocaded geometric patterns with cotton light (almost lime-green) green base material.   Neck is finished with a very nice flowered -embroidered appliqué. Panels have selvage ends, a little loose. Sides are open so can be worn as a poncho or can easily be sewn closed.  Purchased in 2008, but not added to web until now.

Condition: Generally good used huipil with a some loose threads.   Pleats have been opened up.  Believe it was often worn inside out - since color of the inside of the huipil shows more sun fading than the huipil.

Neck : 7.5" width, 2.5" depth

1.1 lb

Price: $75.00

San Pedro Sacatepequez -  This would be a nice huipil to wear if you like blues, lavenders, greens and a few pink tones on a white cotton base.  The neck hole large enough to fit over my 22 inch head and nicely finished with black trim.   I think it is a newer style daily use huipil that combines the zigzag rows of the daily use with simpler geomorphic designs of stars and other forms found in  the ceremonial huipil. The panels ends have nice even selvages and lengths.  Sides are open so can be worn as a poncho or can easily be sewn closed.  Purchased in 2011, just added to web this year.

Condition:  Good  used condition with a few loose threads and one very light stain that I just noticed. Former pleats have been opened, and don't appear to impact the condition.

San Pedro Sacatepequez -  A striking, probably daily use two panel huipil with some design elements of a ceremonial huipil especially across the shoulder.  The well woven huipil has brocaded zigzag and diamond shaped designs in shades of lavender, purple, green and blue with white base material. Note hand-embroidered randa between the panel. The neck is also very nicely finished in an old style of needled embroidery.  Panels have tight selvage ends.  Sides are open so can be worn as a poncho or can easily be sewn closed.  Purchased in 2011, but just put on the web.

Condition: Very good used huipil with a few loose threads.   Small pleats have been opened up but not really noticeable.

San Pedro Sacatepequez -  An interesting, probably daily use two panel huipil with some design elements of a ceremonial huipil especially across the shoulder.  The well woven huipil has colorful brocaded zigzag and diamond shaped designs with cream white base material.  The neck is simply finished and probably had trim at one time similar to the velvet trim around the arm holes.  Panels have selvage ends with a few loose threads. Just barely fits over my 22" inch head (but could be fairly easily opened).  Sides are open so can be worn as a poncho or can easily be sewn closed.  Purchased in 2009, but not put on web until this year.

Condition: Generally good huipil with some issues including some graying and some significant spotting in one area (I'll try to get a better picture).
