Side pleats remain intact.  Very good condition with light wear. Both sides very similar designs.

Backstrap loomed, 2 panels, measuring 19.5� wide by 28�  long.  Fun colorful circle of flowers surrounded by "feathered" pattern - all very nicely hand-embroidered. In generally good condition with a few loose threads.  The 1-inch slit that was cut to enlarge the head needs some finishing. The "randa" that was used to connect the two panels was unusually nicely done.  Soft red cotton foundation weave with very finely done selvage ends on each panel. A few minor spots.  Generally very good condition for a child's huipil.

Back-strap loomed, 2 panels, measuring 25� wide by 18�  long.  Fun colorful circle of cats, flowers, and other designs surrounded by "feathered" pattern - all nicely hand-embroidered. In generally good condition with a few loose threads.  The 1-inch slit that was cut  to enlarge the head needs some finishing.  Embroidery on top of arm holes.  Soft red cotton foundation weave with selvage ends on each panel. A few  wear areas that don't bother me.  Generally used huipil in generally good condition.

Back-strap loomed, 2 panels.  Feathered embroidery design around neck is nice but has loose threads and wear especially on one side.  Some wear and light spotting on back-strapped woven panels. Panels have uneven length. Sides somewhat open - can easily be stitched together or opened to wear as a poncho.  Overall a child's huipil, in generally good condition, but with wear. .

Embroidery in generally good shape with light wear and a few loose threads. Nicely woven soft hand-woven cotton fabric generally in good to very good condition with a few light areas of wear. This is a back-strap loomed double-paneled huipil., measuring 29.5� wide by 21� long.  Nicely woven cotton with end selvages finished. Note the birds that are part of the neck embroidery (somewhat unusual)  as well as the very nicely hand-embroidered flowers. The embroidery is in very good condition The well-finished neck opening shows slight surface wear. Embroidered figures are flowers rather than from the Mayan Calendar. Embroidery has some loose threads and wear. Two panels have dark burgundy with wide stripes.  Panels are selvage finished with some looseness and threads from the original weaving. Sides are open so can be worn as a poncho (easily stitched closed).  Light wear and light soiling on the foundation.  A used huipil in good condition.

Hand embroidered flowers and nicely done simple randa holding two panels together..  One panel selvage finished, others reinforced with small hem.  Head hole neatly hemmed, but can easily be opened because is a 2-panel huipil.  Panel sides are open, but can be easily stitched closed.  I think this is basically a new huipil for an infant or child, in excellent condition.   Embroidered by Maria Elena Apec.

Price:  $ 50.00 sold		Patzun,   This hupil has a bit different feel and design than the other huipils I have.  For one the neck is triangular rather than the normal circle.  The flowers closes to the neck are three dimensional  and the colors match the finely embroidered decorative randa.  The stripes of the foundation have more white in them and appear to have borders of green and black rather than the usual green and blue.

	Fitting Tips ---  Huipils were traditionally made on a loom. Thus they are made of rectangular pieces and are not intended to be a fitted garment.  The width of the garment should be considerably larger (at least 25 to 33%) than the shoulders of the wearer.  Think about room to grow too! Mayan women often put tucks in a huipil's shoulder then remove them as a child grows.  Neck and head hole openings on Huipils are often small.  Note that we can not guarantee that the neck size of a Huipil fits you and your child.  If you want to wear some huipils you may have to open the neck opening and lightly stitch it. This is especially true of Huipils that have been woven on a back-strap loom.    Please check your neck and head measurements carefully!!!
